The story of KT Original begins with two sisters and the unexpected paths that brought them into the greeting card and stationery world. 

Kristin Taddey is the KT in KT Original and the creative force behind the collection.  The story begins when Kristin designed a “save the date” for a family member’s wedding.  The response was overwhelming as more and more requests began pouring in.  What was once a hobby quickly became a business opportunity when a local boutique in her hometown of La Jolla, California, asked her to produce some greeting cards and stationery to feature in the store.  While working as a full-time dental-hygienist, Kristin seized the opportunity and followed her dreams and life-long passion.

Her youngest sister, Jennifer Loyd, quickly realized something special was happening with the “side business” her sister had formed.  Jennifer had unexpectedly taken time off from her job due to a recent diagnosis of ovarian cancer.  During her four months of chemotherapy, Jennifer turned the difficult time into an opportunity to turn the side job her sister had begun into full-time careers for the both of them. A genuine family business began to evolve, as their Mom, Patty, began to assist with product design.

Combining their talents, KT Original debuted at the 2005 National Stationery Show in New York City to unbelievable success.  KT Original is now carried in over 400 boutiques and shops across the country, as retailers continue to look toward this business for fresh and feminine designs.
